What is distinct about who I am and what I do is my dual background in psychology and spirituality. First, I am a licensed psychologist with over 30 years of experience in outpatient and inpatient settings, such as hospitals, schools, college, and addiction treatment centers. I will help you feel at ease the moment you meet me! Therapy will proceed in a comfortable, natural manner, embracing both a serious, yet light-hearted approach. The treatment approach I will use will be selected to meet your needs.

About my background… I earned a doctorate from the College of Human Development at The Pennsylvania State University and a master’s degree in Psychology from West Virginia University. Following two years of clinical internships in the Philadelphia area, I worked at Reading Hospital and Medical Center, St. Joseph Medical Center, Albright College, Caron Treatment Centers, The Pathway School, and at Wayne Counseling Center. For over 10 years, I was a Director at Berks Psychological Services Center. I have taught numerous undergraduate courses in psychology and have trained doctoral level practitioners and family practice medical residents, and supervised psychologists for licensure. I am also School Certified in Pennsylvania and have substantial experience conducting psychoeducational, psychological, neuropsychological, and career evaluations.

For over 30 years, I have been a serious spiritual student of Masters and teachers, mostly in Eastern traditions. One outgrowth of my ongoing training is my recent book, ‘Freedom in Every Moment: Transcending the Struggles of Daily Life,’ written with David O’Connell, Ph.D. and released in January 2017. Many of the methods I use are grounded in psychology and in spiritual disciplines from the East and West.

Over the years, I have published professional articles as well as articles for the general public from elementary school through college to adulthood involving addictions, depression, ADHD, leaving home for college, anxiety, and stress. A Fellow of the Pennsylvania Psychological Association, I am the former Chair of the Electronic Newsletter Committee which produced the newsletter ‘Psychological News You Can Use.’ For many years, I hosted a local TV show in Berks County entitled, ‘Not Just Kidding Around,’ as part of my advocacy work for children in Berks County, PA.
